What Rasoolullah Would Eat with Bread
Ash-Shama'il Al-Muhammadiyah 176
Anas ibn Malik said:
"Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) gave a wedding banquet for Safiyya consisting of dried dates and parched barley.”
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ وَائِلِ بْنِ دَاوُدَ، عَنِ ابْنِهِ، وَهُوَ بَكْرُ بْنُ وَائِلٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ أَوْلَمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَلَى صَفِيَّةَ بِتَمْرٍ وَسَوِيقٍ‏.‏

Saweeq (sattu) is a drink made of parched barley. Sayyidatina Safiyyah bint Huyay ibn Akhtab radiyallahu anha was from a Jewish family and from among the offsprings of Haroon alaihis salaam. In the year AH 7, after the Battle of Khaibar, she was taken as a slave.
