What Rasoolullah Would Eat with Bread
Ash-Shama'il Al-Muhammadiyah 157
'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah the Exalted be well pleased with him) said:
“Allah’s Messenger said (Allah bless him and give him peace): ‘Eat oil, and anoint with it, for it is from a blessed tree'!”
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم: كُلُوا الزَّيْتَ وَادَّهِنُوا بِهِ، فَإِنَّهُ مِنْ شَجَرَةٍ مُبَارَكَةٍ.

The reason for mentioning this hadith in the practices of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu'Alayhi Wasallam is, that if he encouraged the use of olives, he must have used it himself.
