Anas said:
“Ihe pommel of the sword of Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) was made of silver.”

Allamah Bayjuri writes, about the sword named 'Dhulfiqaar', "At the time of conquering Makkah, the Prophet of Allah sallallahu alaihe wasallam had this sword."

Hud (i.e. Ibn 'Abdi’llah ibn Sa'd) reports that his grandfather said:
"Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) entered Mecca on the Day of Victory with gold and silver on his sword. An inquirer said: 'I asked him about the silver', and he said: ‘The pommel of the sword was silver'.”
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صُدْرَانَ الْبَصْرِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا طَالِبُ بْنُ حُجَيْرٍ، عَنْ هُودٍ وَهُوَ ابْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، قَالَ: دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم مَكَّةَ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ وَعَلَى سَيْفِهِ ذَهَبٌ، وَفِضَّةٌ، قَالَ طَالِبٌ: فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الْفِضَّةِ، فَقَالَ: كَانَتْ قَبِيعَةُ السَّيْفِ فِضَّةً.

According to the majority of the Ulama it is not permissible to use gold on a sword. This hadith cannot be used as proof, as it has been declared to be weak. Allamah Turpishti says, "This hadith cannot be used as an argument because its sanad (chain of narrators) cannot be relied upon. The use of silver for the handle etc. is permissible according to the previous hadith."

Ibn Sirin said:
"I made my sword in the shape of the sword of Samura ibn Jundub." Samura also claimed that he made his sword in the shape of the sword of Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace), for he was a Hanafi.
حَدَّثَنَا محمد بن شجاع البغدادى , حَدَّثَنَا أبو عبيدة الحداد , عن عثمان بن سعد , عن ابن سيرين قال: صنعت سيفي على سيف سمرة بن جندب: وزعم سمرة أنه صنع سَيْفِه على سيف رَسُولِ اللهِصلى الله عليه وسلم , وكان حنيفيا.
حدثنا عقبة بن مكرم البصري , قال: حدثنا محمد بن بكر , عن عثمان بن سعد , بهذا الإسناد , نحوه.
