It was narrated that ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) said:

The Prophet (ﷺ) used to pray Witr at the time of the adhan and pray two rak`ahs at the time of the iqamah.

حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُوتِرُ عِنْدَ الْأَذَانِ وَيُصَلِّي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ عِنْدَ الْإِقَامَةِ‏.‏
